Yesterday was World Diabetes Day!!!<\/p>\n
It was EXACTLY what I needed. After being disappointed about the\u00a0lack of support for National Diabetes Awareness Month in my hometown, I was thrilled to see how other people around the world chose to bring diabetes to light.<\/p>\n Seeing the beautiful display of BLUE monuments and buildings throughout the world, and the creativity of the people who found a way to put a personal mark on the day, I\u2019m more inspired and determined than ever to help my city go blue in 2011.<\/p>\n World Diabetes Day is recognized by the United Nations as being a UN<\/strong>ified effort to bring about\u00a0global awareness and action to address the growing diabetes epidemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n Diabetes is a global problem<\/strong> with devastating human, social and economic impact. Today more than 300 million people worldwide are living with diabetes<\/strong>. Each year another 7 million people develop diabetes..<\/p>\n More than 300 monuments and buildings in 40 different countries were lit as beacons of hope for the millions of people worldwide living with diabetes<\/p>\n Here are some of\u00a0my favorites\u2026\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
